Okay, as I try to get through even more shit me and my family are being put through, I've been wondering something in regards to Young Justice and something I hope getsvanswered in season three. As the title gives away, it's about Beast Boy's father, Mark Logan.
Where was he in Young Justice?
In most versions of Beast Boy's origins, Mark was married to Marie and was there when Garfield gotten bitten by the monkey that gave him Sakuita, and it's thanks to him Beast Boy is the way he is to this day. Now as we know, circumstances we're very different in Young Justice, as Beast Boy is half martian thanks to Miss Martian giving him a blood transfusion after he was injured by an ambush from Queen Bee.
From what we can tell, Marie wasn't married given we couldn't see a wedding ring on her finger, but there's no way she could've coped raising Garfield on her own while trying to run the farm. Someone had to have been there in the early years helping Marie raise him and run the place, especially near the Bialyan border. Heck, why did she quit acting and take on the farming? Was Mark someone she grew to admire in university and decided to work alongside him in biology and farming?
From the little details we know of Mark, he was interested in reversing evolution. Why? We don't know. But his absence in Young Justice does raise a few eyebrows along with no mention of him from Marie or Garfield. But their farm bring near the Bialyan border? Queen Bee's ways of manipulation? It makes me wonder...here, was Mark ever an agent working for the Light and sought to work closely near one of their operative's borders?
Or was he brainwashed by Queen Bee into helping her develop super powers with his reverse evolution studies? This does include biology and he was a scientist that was an expert in many cases. With this being a comic universe, it could be likely. And this would be an interesting development for Beast Boy and could bring to the surface how he views Martian Manhunter, because his experiences with father figures in general haven't been pleasant, with his Uncle Galtry abusing him and holding him hostage, then there's Mento being the asshole he's known for being. So here in this version, if his own biological father has had any ties to Queen Bee and anything to do with his mother's death, can you imagine just how that'd make him feel? Not only would it see Beast Boy become a slightly more darker character, but it could see potential development for him and Martian Manhunter. J'onn is the father he never had, and given he's part of the Martian family here, it only makes sense we see them have onscreen development that helps Beast Boy view fathers better and has him ready up for a confrontation with his father and Queen Bee.
That's just a theory of mine, though.
Either way, I just hope they tell us something more about Beast Boy's childhood because he did get sidelined in season two, and I quite like him here as I see him getting handled properly. Hopefully if season three doesn't bring in too many characters like season two did, we can get something out of him in terms of development.
